"Semeadores" by Diego Rivera

This painting depicts two men in a field who seem to be working. One has a shovel and the other carries something over his shoulder. I think the main idea of this painting is about the hard working, common people. The painting is simple but also draws your eye to the working men. This does show some of the artist's culture because hard work and determination is most likely a key factor in the artist's culture.

Harry Nilsson "Good Old Desk"

Once I was told that the song is actually about God, the lyrics began to make more sense. The writing desk is a good symbol for God. The lyrics say, " It's a pleasure to know it's waiting there for me to keep my hopes alive." This is similar to the way one looks to God for hope. Also, the lyrics, "It's always there," contribute to the symbol. Also, the desk is similar to God because it is like a friend that is always there. This is explained in the lyrics, "It's the friend I've got, a giant of all times."

"Soma" by the Strokes

The theme of the song is conformity. The lyrics contain an allusion to the novel Brave New World which also is a commentary on conformity. The lyrics mention "soma" which is a drug uses in the novel to ensure that everyone is equal, unaware, and unable to think as an individual.

"2+2=5" by Radiohead

The subject of the song is ignorance and the inability to thinm independently. The song is an allusion to 1984 where people are made to believe that 2+2=5. The lyrics, "Because you're not there, paying attention," are repeated throughout the song. This represents society's inattention to the reality of the world. The tone is negative towards conformity and ignorance.

Botticelli's "Loss of Innocence"

Innocence- purity, childlike, modesty, unknowledgable.

Unlike losing something tangible, like a book oe a piece of paper, losing somethkng intangible like innocence often implies that it can not be found or regained.

The woman in the middle of the picture is naked, which implies that she is still innocent and unknowledgable. The other woman is dressed much more modestly and is trying to cover her up with cloth. The picture uses darker colors as oppised to light, pure colors.

"Don't You Want Me" by the Human League

In the song, there is a narritive about a man and a woman. The man believes that the woman needs him to succeed and that they should remain a couple. But the woman believes that she can succeed on her own and doesn't need the man.
It is often possible for two people to have different interpretations of the same situation because they have different backgrounds and have experienced different things in their lives. Because of this, they have different points of view. People can have different takes on songs, movies, etc. because they interpret things differently.

"Young Life" by Bo Bartlett

The artist wants us to thinn about the southern way of life. This is supported by the depicting of a truck, gun, and deer, which all can be associated with the south.

The boy and girl are in love. This is supported by the fact that they are hugging in the picture.

The artist wants to create a serious mood. This is supported by the use of a blank and serious facial expressions.

"Blackbird" by the Beatles

The song was meant to create an inspiration or hopeful single effect. The lyrics of the song reflect this. For example, the line, " take these broken wings and learn to fly," involves overcoming a large obstacle, such as a blackbird having a broken wing. The overcoming of this obstacle encourages the listener to be inspired and have hope that they will be able to overcome their own obstacles. Also, the line, "you were only waiting for this momene to be free," is used. This brings up the topic of freedom, which many hope for. It encourages the listener to strive to reach their goals, like a blackbird strives for freedom.

"Shame" by the Avett Brothers

The song is about a person that is shameful for what they have done and wants tomake things right again. The song has a very regretful and sorrowful tone. For example, the word "shame" is often used. This word is usually associated with sadness and has a negative connotation. Also, the word "undo" is used. This word implies that the speaker wants to change his actions and is regretful. Lastly, the phrase "second start" is used. Like the use of the word "undo", this phrase implies that the speaker would like to begin anew, which also suggests that he regrets his previous actions.

"Love Language" short film

The purpose of the film was to demomstrate how deaf people are not any different drom others. It is revealed at the end that the girl is deaf, which emphasizes the fact that she previously did not seem any different from the boy. The song choice contributes to a peaceful, happy mood.
